It is a fight to the death and only one person will survive. Children between the ages of 12 and 18 must gather in each of the 12 districts while someone calls the names of one boy and one girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Every year, there is an event called the Hunger Games. Katniss is a 16 year old girl who lives in a dystopian future of America called Panem.

My favorite part of the book is the scene where they all first go into the arena. Katniss is the main character and my favorite because she is a strong, brave, smart, and independent woman and will always try to do the right thing for her family. Only one person can go home but Katniss decides to break that rule for the 74th annual Hunger Games. The main characters Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Melark are chosen to go into an arena with 11 other districts to fight to the death. I do not think that it is but I can not control what you can and can not read. I would recommend this book to older kids because a lot of my friends can’t read it because their parents say it’s inappropriate. This is my book review for The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
